Ontario iGaming Market Hits Record CA$9.88 Billion in July 2026

Ontario’s regulated iGaming market reached a new record in July 2026, with total cash wagers climbing to approximately CA$9.88 billion. The figure represents the highest monthly wagering total since Ontario launched its regulated online gambling market in 2022 and was around 31% higher than the same month a year earlier.

Online Casino Activity Leads the Market

Online casino games continued to be the biggest part of Ontario’s regulated gambling market. Casino wagers reached approximately CA$8.78 billion during July, accounting for around 89% of total cash wagers. Casino revenue also reached a new monthly high of approximately CA$330.4 million, showing continued growth across the province’s online casino sector.

The strong casino performance was accompanied by increased player activity. Ontario recorded approximately 1.37 million active player accounts during the month, representing a significant increase compared with July 2025. The number of active accounts was the highest recorded since the regulated market launched.

Sports Betting Remains Strong

Sports betting generated approximately CA$992 million in cash wagers during July, representing about 10% of the total regulated market. Sports betting revenue reached approximately CA$77.8 million.

The summer sports calendar, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup, also contributed to increased betting activity during the period. Compared with July 2025, sports betting wagers were significantly higher.

Ontario’s Online Casino Market Continues to Expand

The latest figures show that online casino gaming remains the dominant part of Ontario’s regulated iGaming industry. The province’s market currently includes dozens of licensed operators and more than 80 gaming websites offering casino, sports betting, and poker products.

The continued growth also comes as new brands enter the Ontario market. Hard Rock Bet launched in the province in July, adding another major operator offering both sports betting and online casino games.

What This Means for Canadian Players

Ontario’s latest results highlight the continued growth of regulated online gambling in Canada. For players, the expanding market means more casino brands, games, promotions, and gaming options to compare.

However, players should always check whether an online casino is approved to operate in their province and review its bonus conditions, minimum deposits, wagering requirements, payment methods, and Terms & Conditions before playing.

Ontario’s July figures provide another indication that online casinos remain the largest part of Canada’s regulated iGaming landscape, with player activity and market competition continuing to develop.
