WSOP Super Circuit Canada Main Event Begins with C$10 Million Guarantee

The WSOP Super Circuit Canada Main Event is underway at Playground in Kahnawake, Quebec, bringing one of the biggest live poker events in Canadian history into the spotlight.

The C$5,000 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event features a massive C$10 million guaranteed prize pool and serves as the centrepiece of the inaugural WSOP Super Circuit Canada festival.

The wider series runs from August 26 to September 12, 2026, featuring 18 WSOP Circuit ring events and more than C$14 million in advertised guarantees.

WSOP Super Circuit Canada Main Event Underway

The Main Event began on September 3 and features multiple starting flights, giving players several opportunities to enter before the tournament progresses into its later stages.

With a C$5,000 buy-in and C$10 million guarantee, the Main Event is by far the largest tournament on the WSOP Super Circuit Canada schedule.

The event is scheduled to continue through September 10, when the remaining players will compete for the title and a share of one of the largest guaranteed poker prize pools ever offered at a Canadian tournament.

Canadian Players Start the Festival Strongly

Canadian poker players have already enjoyed significant success during the opening events of the festival.

Sebastien Proulx won the C$500 Super Circuit Kickoff for C$56,000, while Daniel Haim captured the C$500 Mini Main Event and collected C$185,000.

Frederic Moss won the C$1,000 Mystery Bounty for C$90,000, and James Pillon followed with victory in the C$2,300 Super Circuit Championship for C$335,000.

Harley Stoffmaker added another Canadian victory by winning the C$1,500 Monster Stack Pot-Limit Omaha event for C$90,000.

American player Paul Meiners later won the C$1,000 No-Limit Hold’em Progressive Bounty event for C$51,000.

Mini Main Event Breaks Playground Record

The festival has already produced a major attendance record.

The C$500 Mini Main Event attracted 3,484 entries across five starting flights, making it the largest field for a single tournament in Playground history.

The previous Playground record was 1,978 entries, established during the 2025 WSOP Circuit Main Event.

The significant increase in participation highlights the level of interest surrounding the inaugural WSOP Super Circuit Canada festival.

More Than C$14 Million in Guaranteed Prize Pools

The Main Event is only one part of a much larger poker schedule.

Across the festival, players can compete in 18 WSOP Circuit ring events, with more than C$14 million in advertised guarantees.

The schedule includes traditional No-Limit Hold’em tournaments alongside Mystery Bounty, Progressive Bounty and Pot-Limit Omaha formats.

Other major tournaments include a C$14,000 GGMillion$ High Roller with a C$1 million guarantee and a C$25,000 Super High Roller.

WSOP Super Circuit Canada Could Set a New Record

The festival could establish a new benchmark for Canadian tournament poker.

Approximately C$5.78 million in prize pools had already been generated through the opening events as the Main Event moved into the spotlight.

The existing Canadian record for total prize money generated by a single poker series is approximately C$15.54 million.

With the C$10 million guaranteed Main Event and several additional tournaments still on the schedule, the inaugural WSOP Super Circuit Canada has the potential to surpass that figure.

Daniel Negreanu Helps Launch the Main Event

Canadian poker star Daniel Negreanu was present for the beginning of the Main Event.

Negreanu performed the ceremonial “Shuffle Up and Deal” for Flight A alongside WSOP broadcaster Jeff Platt and Playground officials.

Other notable poker names participating in activities surrounding the festival have included Michael Mizrachi, Jonathan Little and Dan Cates.

Their presence adds further attention to a festival that has already attracted record-breaking participation at Playground.

More Poker Events Still to Come

The WSOP Super Circuit Canada continues until September 12, meaning several tournaments remain on the schedule after the Main Event begins.

Upcoming events include the GGMillion$ High Roller, Ultra Stack, Super High Roller, Monster Stack, Mystery Bounty, PLO High Roller and several closing bounty tournaments.

Each ring event provides another opportunity for players to compete for a WSOP Circuit title.
